FOR CHARITIES AND VOLUNTEERS

Make good things happen, together.
In a channel your charity runs.

Bring volunteers and staff together with just a mobile number – no IT account. Share plans, photos and updates, and organise events.

Start free is personal messaging for adults: one private group channel, up to 25 people and three calendar months of history, with no Microsoft 365 archive. On a connected paid plan, the record files into your charity’s own Microsoft 365. The walkthrough is ten minutes in a real channel, on your own phone.

THE CONVERSATION TODAY

Volunteers already have a group chat.
Usually several.

A rota changes the night before. Directions for Saturday’s event reach whoever is in the right group. A coordinator’s own phone holds years of who offered to help, and when. Most of it works, and the people in those groups are glad of them.

The harder part is the charity’s side: knowing who is in which group, taking someone out when they step back, and keeping the conversation when a coordinator moves on.

HOW IT FITS TOGETHER

Volunteers on their phones.
Staff where they work.

Volunteers join with a mobile number. Coordinators answer where they already work. The charity decides who belongs and where the lasting record lives.

Core messages are stored and processed in the UK; some supporting services process elsewhere (service providers and locations). Filing into Microsoft 365 starts once your paid archive is connected. See how it works in full.

WHAT CHANGES

Easier for volunteers.
Clearer for the charity.

Practical by design

Messages, voice notes, photos and documents. Arrange an event, ask with a poll or keep a task alongside the conversation.

You decide who belongs

On paid plans, your administrators decide who belongs in each channel, and can remove someone when they step back. A volunteer’s phone number stays private from other members.

Coordinators in Teams

Staff can answer a volunteer’s private line from Teams. Teams integration on paid plans; Teams Store listing coming soon.

Continuity when people move on

On a paid plan, conversations live in channels your organisation owns, not on a coordinator’s own phone. Once your archive is connected, they file into your charity’s Microsoft 365.

AN EVERYDAY EXAMPLE

Saturday’s food drive.
Sorted on Friday.

Tom, a volunteer, asks on his private line to the coordinators where to park the van for Saturday’s food drive. Aisha, the volunteer coordinator, replies from Microsoft Teams. On a paid plan with a connected archive, the exchange files into the charity’s Microsoft 365.

ROLLING IT OUT

Start with a few volunteers.
Grow when it works.

Try it free with a small group, then bring it to the whole charity when you need a lasting record.

01

Try it with a small group.

Start free with up to 25 people you know: one private group channel and direct messages. Free is for personal use and evaluating the app, not your charity’s lasting record.

02

Choose your channels.

On a paid plan, your tier sets how many channels you run: Foundation includes 2, Governance 10. Adding people is always free.

03

Connect your Microsoft 365.

Your Global Admin runs the install, and you approve the wording people are shown.

04

Invite volunteers, and keep the list tidy.

Each texted invitation works only for the person it was sent to. On paid plans, your administrators can withdraw any join link at any time, and a withdrawn link stops working at once.

ON ANY DEVICE

Volunteers can use the browser or get the app for iPhone, iPad or Android. Installing is optional.

PRIVACY AND PROTECTION

QUESTIONS FROM CHARITIES

A few things
worth knowing.

Read the guides for charities
Do volunteers need a work account or an app?

No. People joining a conversation need no Microsoft account. Volunteers confirm their mobile number with a texted code, then use ComplyChat in a browser or get the app for iPhone, iPad or Android.

Can volunteers see each other’s phone numbers?

No. A volunteer’s phone number stays private from other members. On paid plans, your organisation’s administrators can see members’ numbers in the client portal, to manage who belongs.

What happens when a volunteer steps back?

Remove them. On paid plans, removing someone from your organisation also signs them out and removes their passkeys. Someone an administrator or channel admin removes is asked to wait for approval instead of rejoining through a link.

Can our charity just use Free?

Free is for personal use and evaluating the app, rather than your organisation’s statutory, safeguarding or other lasting record. It keeps three calendar months of history and has no Microsoft 365 archive. If your organisation needs a lasting record, choose a paid plan and connect your own Microsoft 365.

Do we pay for every volunteer?

No. Paid plans have no per-person, per-message or SMS metering charges. You pay one flat price per tier no matter how many staff use it, and adding people is always free.

Can members of the public reach us?

On paid plans, yes. They text your published number. A quick SMS code verifies who they are, and they land straight in your channel in their browser – nothing to install. Foundation includes 1 local number.
